Tour Journal For Israel Study Tour with Brandon Hammonds October 1-12, 2013

Day 2 – Come To Me And Drink

Day 2 – Come To Me And Drink

Today was a physically strenuous but hugely rewarding day of hiking in the mountains surrounding the Dead Sea. We visited 3 historic sites; Ein Geid, Qumran, and Masada. They all were incredibly beautiful sites to beautiful sites to behold, but the main highlight for me was when we were sitting next to the ‘David Waterfall’ in Ein Gedi, listening to Brandon describe the scene on the last day of Sukkot. He painted an incredibly vivid picture, drawing us into the euphoria as the people cry out “Hosanna!” whilst the priests walk seven times around the altar. As a deathly hush descends on the people, all of a sudden a man cries out from within the crowd, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” We were all silent as Brandon cried the words of Jesus, and I shut my eyes as I felt the sweet presence of God on my heart. For one of the first times in my life, I was taken into a tangible encounter with a verse of the Text, simply by being taught about the cultural background prefacing the verse. We are only 2 days into this study tour, and I am already getting so much out of it that I know that my life in the Word will simply never be the same again!
